Qualitative Analysis is the quickest and simplest form of data collection. Do you simply need to know whether a particular species is present or absent for basic age or environmental information? This is the analysis for you.

Quantitative analysis offers the highest level of precision and is detailed such that the dataset can be applied to meet any objective, current or future.

A statistical quantitative data set is generated by counting each and every observed specimen. In the case of nannos, Styzen’s (1997) counting method is applied.

With a quantitative data set, you will have all you need to interpret where you are in geologic time and to characterizatize the depositional environment with the best precision that nannos and/or forams have to offer.

Do you have a vintage data set, or even a modern one, that you need a specialist to interpret? Like other scientific fields, micropaleontology has evolved and improved through the decades. Over time, species names change, age datums are recalibrated, and a specialist is your best bet for accurately deciphering the details. This service is not limited to calcareous nannofossils and foraminifera; Precision Paleo can help you with marine diatoms and radiolarians, too.

Deliverables always include a fully detailed written report describing your results sample by sample. Quantitative results will include a spreadsheet of the raw count data, and, if applicable, a comprehensive biostratigraphic chart displaying total abundance, species richness, and age- and environmentally-specific species, by depth, to easily visualize geologic time and events. Most other data sets can be added to these charts including, but not limited to, well logs, isotopes, or other microfossil data, for an integrated and comprehensive interpretation.
